Tom Kristensson
Biography
Born in the southern Swedish university city of Lund in April 1991 and now based in Hörby, Tom Kristensson is one of the most accomplished international entries on the EROAD Australian Rally Championship grid in 2026. The Swede first turned a wheel in anger in 2010, learning his craft on local rallies at the wheel of an old Volvo, and has spent the years since building one of the more diverse résumés in European rallying.
His early breakthrough came in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup, where he finished runner-up in 2016 before claiming the championship outright in 2017 in an Opel Adam R2. That title earned him an ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team WRC debut at Rallye Deutschland in 2018, and from there it was full Junior World Rally Championship campaigns in a Ford Fiesta R2. Tom finished second in the 2019 JWRC behind Jan Solans, then went one better in 2020, securing the Junior World Rally Championship title with event wins in Sweden, Italy and the final round at Monza. Across his JWRC and WRC programs from 2018 to 2021 he has 15 WRC starts to his name, including a season with M-Sport Ford WRT in the Fiesta R5 Mk II in 2021.
A move to the FIA European Rally Championship followed in 2022 with Kowax 2BRally Racing in a Hyundai i20 R5, where he claimed the Polish Rally Championship title alongside a podium at ERC Rally Poland. A 2023 ERC campaign with the Bilteknik TRT Citroën Rally Team was cut short after a retirement at Rally Poland, but Tom remained a force at home in Sweden, finishing third in the 2024 Swedish Rally Championship with Keane Motorsport in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 and following it up with a perfect record of event wins on Swedish soil in 2025.
That form translated immediately to Australian conditions on his ARC debut at the 2025 ARC Plant Hire Forest Rally. Pairing with regular co-driver and fellow Swede Andreas Johansson, and driving the Maximum Motorsport-prepared Skoda Fabia R5, Tom won the opening stage, recovered from a Saturday morning puncture, and went on to finish third outright. His pace, exciting driving style and friendly paddock presence quickly made him a fan favourite. In 2026 he returns to Western Australia with the same car, the same team and the same co-driver, this time hunting his maiden ARC victory.
