Jeff David and co-driver Grant Geelan have spent the better part of 25 years campaigning a classic 1970 Porsche 911 through some of Australia’s most demanding rally stages. That potent, iconic machine (prepared by Geelan’s Autohaus Hamilton team) has carried the Sydney pair to an impressive resume in classic competition, including an 8th outright and first 2WD finish in the 2008 ARC, podiums at the Otago Rally in New Zealand, and the 2013 Alpine Rally Classic win.

For 2026, the pair have decided it’s time to try something different. Swapping the air-cooled 911 for a Subaru WRX in the WRX Challenge, David and Geelan will contest two rounds (Queensland and Western Australia) in what shapes as an entertaining change of pace for one of Australian rally’s most seasoned and entertaining classic campaigners. Plenty of gravel miles between them. Different car, same determination.
