Subaru to drive Rally Tasmania into the Wilderness

The EROAD Australian Rally Championship (ARC) is delighted to announce Subaru Australia as the naming rights partner for Rally Tasmania, with the event now known as the Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania.

Taking place as the fourth round of the 2026 ARC season in August, the Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania will once again welcome the best rally drivers in the country to the picturesque beachside town of Burnie.

The 2026 partnership is a major coup for both the event and the championship as a whole, with the manufacturer paying homage to its all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness, which serves as the seventh-generation of the famous Subaru Outback range.

This year’s sponsorship won’t be the first time the iconic manufacturer has got behind rallying in Tasmania as a naming rights partner, having backed the event in 2018 and 2019 in a previous iteration.

Outside of its support as a naming rights partner, Subaru has a strong ongoing connection with the sport, having been a mainstay competitor for decades while also currently supporting the Subaru WRX Challenge class.

Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania Event Manager Adrian Coppin thanked Subaru for getting behind the event for 2026.

“Subaru has been a great supporter of the ARC’s presence in Tasmania over the years and their returning support as naming rights partner of the event is warmly welcomed,” Coppin said.

“The brand is synonymous with rallying in the state, so it’s hugely fitting that they’re back as a major part of Tasmania’s biggest annual gravel rally event.

“On behalf of the whole Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania operation, I would like to thank the team at Subaru Australia for their support and I look forward to working with them in the lead up to the event.”

Subaru Australia Managing Director Blair Read was looking forward to the partnership.

“Tasmania, Rallying and Subaru are made for each other, making this the perfect location to showcase the all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness,” Read said.

“We really like the direction Rally Tasmania is heading in and adding the Subaru Wilderness name really reflects the adventure and challenge offered from this great event,” Read said.

The 2026 Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania takes place in and around the forests of Burnie, Tasmania on 14-16 August.
