The Pedders Suspension Rally Team's triumphant return to the ARC has continued with Scott Pedder winning leg two while brother Mark has improved on yesterday's result to finish fourth after finishing seventh on day one.Scott Pedder and co driver Jon Mortimer were able to extend their lead across the day's early and middle stages to win the leg by 33 seconds from Simon and Sue Evans. But it was Mark Pedder who showed that despite five years out of the drivers seat, he's a force to be reckoned with. Alongside co-driver Cat Smallbone, Mark was able to find improved form to finish just three minutes behind brother Scott on the day. With father Ron Pedder in attendance, it has been a perfect return to the Australian Rally Championship for the Melbourne based brothers. Said Scott "We made the decision to re enter the series for commercial reasons, but taking the top spot in two legs has shown us that winning is another reason to come back. One day to go; we'll be working hard again. The cars have been brilliantly prepared by Dave McShane and his team from Race Torque Engineering. Mark and I have all we need to complete a near perect weekend."Mark Pedder: "Today was anopther step toward finding the sort of form that will place our car up the top through the series. Despite my initial misgivings about asphalt, I'm not only working well with Cat I'm enjoying it. I can see third from here and I'll be doing all I can to secure a podium." Today sees the final day of the Rally Tasmania with 8 stages covering approximately 55 kilometres. Scott Pedder needs to finish inside the top three to win the overall. With Justin Dowel's car ailing, it's an open race for the third spot on the podium. |
